In Shop Capabilities
We are an extremely capable and versatile machining facility. Our machinists are equally comfortable working on a part that fits in the palm of your hand as they are a 10,000LB part.
Turning
16″ x 60″
The turning processes are typically carried out on a lathe, and can be of four different types such as straight turning, taper turning, profiling or external grooving. Those types of turning processes can produce various shapes of materials such as straight, conical, curved, or grooved workpiece. In general, turning uses single-point cutting tools. Each group of workpiece materials has an optimum set of tools angles which have been developed through the years.
Milling
12″x30″ travel/ table 9×48
Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from a workpiece by advancing (or feeding) in a direction at an angle with the axis of the tool. It covers a wide variety of different operations and machines, on scales from small individual parts to large, heavy-duty gang milling operations. It is one of the most effective processes in machine shops for machining parts to precise sizes and shapes.
Blanchard Grinding
16″ table
Blanchard grinding leaves a specific finish pattern on surfaces, produced by the nature of the operation, and of the movement of grinding tools across the surface. Sometimes referred to as rotary surface grinding, the process is ideal for surfaces too large for disc grinding, such as plate stock, die blocks and rotary tables. Although it uses far more horsepower than other grinding services, turnaround time is much faster for certain parts; the process can be used simultaneously on multiple parts, as well, also leading to reduced production times and expense.
Surface Grinding
6″x12″
Surface grinding is used to produce a smooth finish on flat surfaces. It is a widely used abrasive machining process in which a spinning wheel covered in rough particles (grinding wheel) cuts chips of metallic or nonmetallic substance from a workpiece, making a face of it flat or smooth.
Welding
Mig and Stick Steel and Stainless
Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials by causing fusion. In addition to melting the base metal, a filler material is typically added to the joint to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to form a joint that is usually stronger than the base material. Pressure may also be used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce a weld.
Keyway broaching
3/4″ width
Broaching is used when precision machining is required, especially for odd shapes. Commonly machined surfaces include circular and non-circular holes, splines, keyways, and flat surfaces. Typical workpieces include small to medium-sized castings, forgings, screw machine parts, and stampings.
Partner Shop Capabilities
Although we perform the vast majority of our services in-house, we also also maintain partnerships with serveral facilities in Illinois and the surrounding area. Every partner shop job is subject to our strict quality control procedures and covered by our customer service guarantee and standard warranty.
